The Man Behind the Blog: A Q&A with Christopher

Christopher recently joked that he has never made a guest appearance on this space of mine, so today I thought it would be fun for y’all to get to know him through a little Q&A.

What do you like to do to unwind after a long day?
Easy…sleep. But I’ll assume you meant before that. In that case, it’s veg out in front of the TV. Doesn’t really matter what’s on it as long as it’s talking at me.

What is the top place on your travel list?
Places I’ve been or want to go? My favorite all time place I’ve been is probably when we took our trip to Prague, although I’m still disappointed they didn’t know what kolaches are. There’s also a lot of good places in the US. Our trip to California was really fun, but basically the entire American West has loads of amazing places. I think I’d have to pick Yellowstone as my favorite place I’ve been in the US.

As far as places I haven’t been but want to go to Australia would probably be top of that particular list. The problem with that destination is the flight…but really who can say no to kangaroos?

What has been your favorite part of living in Chicago?
Chicago has really surprised me. Growing up in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere Texas, I didn’t really expect to like it here. If you have to live in a big city, this is a good one to do it in. It’s got just about everything you could want to do in your time off, it’s easy to get around, and it’s relatively clean with great parks and the lakeshore. Also I’m going to pretend every Chicago winter is like the one we had this year…thanks, El Nino.

I know you’ve been excited about the Monopoly game the grocery store is running as an incentive, but what is your favorite childhood board game to play as an adult?
So many great choices…Let’s be clear, no one actually really deep down likes Monopoly all that much. The go to is probably something like Mousetrap, but then you have to deal with all of those parts with the one curvy piece that never works right. And don’t even get me started on Scrabble. Overall I think I would have to go with Clue.

What is your favorite meal?
Mac and cheese.

What is your favorite season?
Fall. Not too hot, not too cold. Several exciting holidays, football, and pumpkins. Don’t really think we need any more explanation for this.

If you weren’t going to be a doctor, what profession would you choose?
Maybe a teacher, but let’s be honest, my dream job is stay at home husband.

What is the strangest thing about having a Russian wife?
What isn’t?

What do you want to name our next dog?
Mr. Puggles. And I feel strongly about this…doesn’t matter if its male/female or what breed it is.

Who is your favorite author?
Probably Glen Cook. I’ve read all but one of his books so far and thoroughly enjoyed every single one of them. He is really good at creating interesting characters and then further developing them throughout the plot. Generally, his stories revolve around a protagonist with a dark side (not always quite an anti-hero but close) and focus on a plot where the good guy isn’t always good, and the bad guy isn’t always bad.

I resisted the urge to comment on all of his answers, but it was fun to come up with questions for him! I might have to do another Q&A with Christopher in the future, so let me know if y'all have any questions for him.

  1. This was so much fun to get to know Chris better! I love that he said that his favorite European city was Prague because it makes me that much more excited for our trip! You also really can't beat a good plate of Mac and cheese!

  2. What a fun way to get to know him better! Australia is definitely on my travel list, but such a long flight!

  3. Yay! It's always so much fun to get to know the men (or women) in our favorite bloggers' lives!

  4. I'm so with Chris on Fall being his favorite season - it's easily mine as well too! Also seriously true about one really loves it after an hour lol! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  5. bahaha yes to australia! kangaroos are so boring though, there are way more exciting things than kangaroos! but if you end up there one day, make sure you try some kangaroo.. and yes, by that i mean eating it. so good. so lean. don't feel bad. they are like rodents to us. i know i sound mean, but i'm not haha. and yum to mac n cheese!

  6. This was fun to read. That's great that he was up for this!

  7. What a good blogger husband with saying his favorite season is fall haha! Love this post idea =)

  8. So fun getting to know him better! Chicago is definitely a great city! It's one of the cleanest I've visited before. :) Clue is a great choice for a board game and Mr. Puggles is a solid pet name. :)

  9. This is so cute! I look forward to seeing a Mr. Puggles on the blog in the future. :) Also, I can't believe they don't know what kolaches are in Prague!!

  10. A stay at home husband! Haha-oh buddy, you went into the wrong career then!

  11. There are some good answers in this one: his reasoning for liking fall the best, Mr. Puggles, stay at home husband, Australia! This reminds me that I started a Q&A type series for my guy, then kinda dropped it for no reason except forgetfulness.

  12. It is always fun getting to meet the man behind the blog :) Australia is amazing, the flight not so much, but worth it!

  13. He's got such a fun sense of humor! "A stay at home husband"? That's awesome :) His dog name is also super comical. Why is it that men feel so passionately about dog names?? My husband has one picked out for our next dog, too!

  14. Such a fun post! I have to agree about Yellowstone being such an amazing place, and so far my favorite U.S. city is Chicago! Given that I've only been in the summer, not so sure I'd be happy there in the winter lol :-P

  15. Man Behind the Blog is always fun...! And yes to Clue & Mac and Cheese!

  16. The Russian wife one- hahaha. I loved Clue too, and mac and cheese is such a classic! I want a puggle so bad, and I already have a unisex name picked out for him/her too! I told someone about this and they thought I was weird because I needed to "meet" the dog before I could name it to make sure it "fit." So fun learning more about your guy :)

  17. How fun! It's always great to get to know the guys behind the blogs. Prague is one of my favorite places too!

    1. I haven't met anyone who doesn't like Prague! Such a stunning city! :)
