Friday Favorites: Five Places I Want to Visit in the United States

Happy Friday, friends! It’s been a busy few weeks around here with visitors (and my in-laws are coming on Saturday!), so today I thought it would be fun to share my United States travel wish list. Honestly, I have a list several pages long of all the places I want to visit, but for the sake of brevity, I decided to stick with my top five choices. I love traveling abroad, but there are still many beautiful places in the United States I haven’t seen.

One. Charleston, South Carolina
My mother-in-law subscribes to Southern Living, and Charleston often makes an appearance on its travel pages. It just looks so cute, and I know that I would love it.

Two. Crater Lake, Oregon
I should just add the entire state of Oregon to this list (I really want to visit Portland!), but I have wanted to visit Crater Lake for years. All of the photos I have seen of the area are gorgeous.

Three. Washington, D.C.
I have no idea how I haven’t managed to see our nation’s capital, but this needs to change as soon as possible. I would love to see DC during cherry blossom season.

Four. Asheville, North Carolina
I have always wanted to visit the Biltmore Estate, and I think Asheville would be a great area to explore. Plus, it’s close to the Smoky Mountains, which are also on my list.

Five. Nashville, Tennessee
There are a bunch of places I want to see in Nashville, but a tour at the Grand Ole Opry and a visit to the Parthenon are on the top of my list!

What place in the United States is on the top of your list?

Linking up with AmandaKarli, and the High Five for Friday girls.

Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!

  2. This is an awesome list! I LOVE Charleston - if you go, get ready to eat a lot of delicious southern food! We lived in DC for three years and still go back to visit. The Cherry Blossom Festival time is beautiful, but it is crazy crowded. Personally my favorite time of year is the fall - I miss those beautiful fall colors so much. As you know, we don't get those much in Texas. :) Oregon and Asheville are at the top of my list too. Have a great weekend!

  4. I just went to Charleston and it's beautiful! I'd definitely recommend a visit! DC is only an hour from me and I never get tired of visiting! There is so much to do and so much of our nations history :) I actually didn't like Nashville as much as I thought I would but I'm still glad I visited :) Two crater lake and Ashville both look beautiful!

  5. This is a great travel to-do list. I can personally recommend DC and Asheville. There is so much to see and do in DC. I have been several times and still feel like I'm just scratching the surface. We spent last Thanksgiving in Asheville...absolutely loved it. It had my husband and I thinking of a future retirement location!

  8. YES to all of these! I'm biased, but I think Charleston is the most magical place in the world :) So yes, go!

I lived in DC for one summer while studying ballet so I also LOVE DC! So much to do and explore.

  9. I have been to four of the five places you have on your list (I've never been to Oregon) and I can tell you that all of them rock! Charleston has amazing food, Nashville has such a fun downtown, Asheville has the Biltmore and lots of great hiking and DC is...well it's DC!

  11. I've been to DC, but only for a class trip for a journalism class I had in college. We didn't get to see nearly everything the city has to offer, but I did get to check out some cool places. I've been through Asheville, but I was a kid and we didn't get to really do much.

    1. It's so hard to see everything DC has to offer in a short time! I would love to spend a week there, but I would even be happy with a weekend. :)

  12. You definitely need to plan a trip to all of these places so soon! I know that you'd love Charleston because it is such a cute southern town, and Asheville looks like it would be too! Nashville is so much fun and has a ton of stuff to do and eat and see. A trip to DC during the cherry blossoms is hands down one of the best trips we've ever taken! I love that you mentioned US cities that you want to visit because I think that sometimes people forget how many amazing places we have right here at home.

  19. Your list is pretty good! Having lived in Nashville, I can't say enough great things about that city. And yes, you need to add the whole state of Oregon. The coast is amazing!!! If you haven't been I would add Savannah too!

  20. Charleston is the best city in the US, in my opinion. And not just because I got engaged and we spend part of our honeymoon there. ;) The Biltmore is also pretty impressive!
