A Gorgeous Day at the Dallas Arboretum

I can’t even begin to tell y’all how much I’ve missed doing travel posts on my blog. Between a crazy May (and June isn’t looking any slower. What’s with this summer?) and taking it easy during the first half of pregnancy, I haven’t been able to put together a travel post since early April! I have about a million ideas and thoughts I want to share, though, so I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things! We also just finally booked our trip for the end of July (details on that next week), so there is a lot of content coming up, and I’m so excited to get started!

I’ve shared a lot about all of our adventures throughout the years, but I rarely mention what we do here in Dallas. I absolutely love visiting the Dallas Arboretum, especially in the spring. This year I really wanted to make it to the Dallas Blooms event to see the tulips. Unfortunately, a few days before we went, there was a huge hailstorm in Dallas that killed all the tulips. The arboretum was really quick about replanting those spots, though, so we didn’t see any empty flower beds.

The day we picked to go to the arboretum was the very best day. Chris took the day off to go to my first OB appointment with me, and we were both over the moon after seeing our little one on an ultrasound for the first time. We also got to share the news with both of our brothers, so it was a day full of joy.

So much joy!

One of the best parts of the Dallas Arboretum is it’s right by White Rock Lake, so the scenery is so beautiful. It was one of the hotter days we had so far this year, but being by the water made it tolerable. I really loved seeing all the beautiful, colorful spring flowers and enjoying a fun date with my love.

Have you been to the arboretum in your city?

  1. I looove the flowers in the first photo-- those have been some of my favorite this year! This looks like such a gorgeous place to explore, and even if you missed the tulips because of the storm, everything looks so picturesque! What a great memory to have with your first ultrasound appointment.

  2. What a beautiful place! Love your pictures.

  3. So beautiful! Hope you've been feeling well!

  4. This looks so lovely! It's a bummer about the tulips, but great that they were on re-planting those areas! :) It sounds like a really fun day with the ultrasound too! :) Excited to hear where your next trip will be! :) XO - Alexandra

  6. Oh my word, such gorgeous flowers. I would be in heaven seeing all those bright colors and smelling the scents. I've never seen the first flower before but it's gorgeous and exotic.

  7. That's great that they were able to replant the flowers that were destroyed in the storm! I've never been to the arboretum in Houston, not sure if we have one, but it looks like a place that I would love! And talk about the perfect day to go, beautiful weather and your first doctor's appointment!

  8. I love visiting the local botanical gardens here in Richmond! I never dreamed I'd be such a flower-loving kind of person.
Glad you are feeling a bit better and hope you'll feel even better by your trip in July! And yes, summer has been quite the whirlwind this year, huh? Something must be in the water.

  9. What a joyful day! I LOVE those lake views! And now I feel like I need a car filled with flowers in my yard!! :D

  10. Hands down my favorite place in Dallas!! So glad y'all enjoy it too!! All my favorite memories are from ordinary, amazing days at the Arboretum!

  11. What a gorgeous day you had! We love visiting arboretums and of course the two days we had planned out it ended up raining. We yet to get one this year but hoping we can visit soon. Such beautiful pictures you got! Beautifully Candid
