Lately, there has been so much hate in our country. People are hurt and angry, and their response is to lash out at people who have differing opinions. I am not here to blame anybody because it is truly a tumultuous time, but I do think we need some kindness in this world. Why not take a minute today to brighten someone’s day? None of my ideas are groundbreaking, but I don’t think it takes much to spread kindness.
Compliment a friend
I recently told a friend that her new top looks amazing with her eyes. She sent me a message later that day telling me how much my comment meant to her because she always feels like a plain Jane. We are sometimes our biggest critics, so a simple compliment can be a big encouragement.
Buy someone coffee
I love the idea of paying it forward by buying coffee for the person behind you in line. If you’d rather do it to someone you know, buy a coffee for a coworker. My coworkers and I used to do this for each other every once in a while, and it always felt like a big treat!
Write a heartfelt note
Who doesn’t love receiving a handwritten note? Just something as simple as “have a great day” goes a long way.
Offer a hug
Has one of your friends been having a hard time? Offer to give them a hug! I say offer because some people just aren’t huggers, but it’s a nice gesture for those who are.
Bake cookies for your office
Dessert makes the world a better place. Brighten your coworkers’ day by bringing cookies (or other baked goods) to the office.
I love treating someone's order behind me because I've had it done to me a few times & its the BEST!!!
ReplyDeletethese are all great ideas - i have always wanted to buy someone's coffee behind me but i get like scared hahaha. plus i don't go to starbucks that often. maybe one day! maybe i'll do it closer to christmas lol
ReplyDeleteGreat suggestions! It really takes such little effort to make someone's day so much better!
ReplyDeleteI love these suggestions. They are so easy to do too.
ReplyDeleteThere really has been too much hate and negativity lately! I love you idea of baking cookies for the office! Everybody loves free food, especially if it's something sweet!
ReplyDeleteOur posts are like sister-posts today, haha. I love making sweet treats for my office. And compliments go such a long way :) All of these are so simple but mean so much- this is a great list!
ReplyDeleteSuch easy ways to brighten anyone's day! One of my co-workers got me a biscuit sandwich this morning because she really wanted me to try a place's biscuits and it was the sweetest thing!
ReplyDeleteI love all these! I love baking random things and bringing coffee to friends :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a good idea for a post, especially right now. <3
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Jess. <3
DeleteLove these. Love seeing something positive on a blog right now, too. :) I've been working the past year really hard at complimenting people more and it's such a wonderful thing to do. I really enjoy how it affects others--sometimes it really makes a difference.
ReplyDeleteThank you, sweet lady! It's amazing how a simple compliment can brighten someone's day! :)
DeleteLove this post! I always try do this as I know it means so much to people and would me! I tell my kids that just one positive thing you say to someone could make their day or even week. Thanks for posting this, especially now!
ReplyDeleteI love bringing treats to work, and I also love when others do it too lol Definitely brightens the day to know someone is thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteIt sure does! I definitely don't mind when others bring treats either! Haha. :)
DeleteRandom acts of kindness are worth sharing. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteWe all need more hugs! I've been tempted to hug strangers that I'm afraid have been facing discrimination lately. I just may do it soon.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great reminder, and definitely so timely. I think I posted a similar type thing earlier in the year, and have been tempted to write another. I love your ideas, I definitely do the last one quite a bit, but I'd like to leave notes for people more often. :) XO - Alexandra
