Match Day is exactly one month from today! In four weeks, we will finally know where we are going to be for the next five years of our lives. I can’t believe the wait is almost over, and that it’s time for me to start looking for a Match Day dress!
/ / Two:
Speaking of Match Day, our rank lists are due next week. It is crazy to think everything is about to be set in stone. I will share more about our current thoughts in a residency update post next week.
/ / Three:
We booked a medical school graduation trip for the hubby! After bouncing around a bunch of ideas, we finally decided on a destination. A few days after Match Day, we are flying to San Diego and doing a road trip through California. We haven’t set the places we are visiting in stone yet, but current thoughts include the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve, Big Sur, Heart Castle, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Muir Woods, Napa or Sonoma Valley, and San Francisco. Chris and I have both been to California many times separately, but we are so excited to go together! San Diego is a new city for us, so we are both eager to explore it. If any of y’all have any tips on good restaurants and places to see, send them my way!
/ / Four:
After not spending any money on myself in January, I have been able to keep it up halfway through February! Sadly, that's about to change because I want a Match Day dress, medical school graduation dress, and a few new items for California.
/ / Five:
My blog has grown quite a bit lately, so I am finally comfortable asking if anyone wants to guest post for me while we are gone. If you are interested, send me an e-mail!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

So what kind of dress qualifies as a match day dress? And speaking of match day... I'm so excited for you guys! Since you've been posting about this each step of the way, I kind of feel like I've gone through it with you guys. And a California road trip is on my bucket list and part of me is so excited you're doing it first because you're obviously the travel planner blogger go-to! And if you spent $0 on yourself for almost two months, I'd say you deserve to buy a few new things!! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteOoo! California-I want to go! I can't wait to read all your stories about the trip. I'm keeping my fingers crossed you'll get your perfect match day results!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rachel! I am excited to share stories about California and Match Day! :)
DeleteOh you guys are going to have a wonderful time in California!! I can't wait to hear all about the trip details! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for match day to finally get here! I can't wait to see where ya'll will be! That is so exciting- I'd be dying over there!
ReplyDeleteYou HAVE to visit Napa when you go and have some wine for me!!!!! Happy weekend ya'll! xo
It's always great to have a trip on the calendar to look forward to, and there are so many great options in Cali! Hope you find the perfect dress for Match Day...how exciting!!
ReplyDeleteCalifornia is a great choice! I just moved to San Francisco about five months ago and can give you all kinds of pointers when you get into my area. Muir Woods is a must and be sure to go early in the morning. Depending on how much time you have, you should spend an entire day in Marin. Also,if you like Italian the best restaurant in North Beach is Calzone's. A little pricey, but so worth it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the information, Angela! Growing up, we "lived" near San Francisco for a month every summer and a month every winter (we would go to Tahoe in the winter), and it is one of my favorite places in the world. I haven't been back in so long and am so excited to go back! I have never visited Muir Woods and am so eager to go! I wrote down Calzone's on our list-it sounds so good! :)
Deleteok so what happens after match day? how soon will you move? i'm excited for you!
ReplyDeleteyay for any kind of dresses, lol! i fully support that :)
i haven't been to any of those places, i'm so jealous! i have heard san diego is pretty amazing though, and has a top notch zoo.
let me know if you want me to guest post - i don't want to assume of course, but if you do, let me know :) i'd be happy to!
So exciting about the trip to Cali :) and match day coming up! A friend of mine has her match day in March too (I forget the date) but she had about 8 interviews in various spots across Canada... she's very nervous as well and hoping to get her top choice!! Have a wonderful weekend - hope you find some nice dresses :)
ReplyDeleteSo exciting about your Cali road trip :) Depending on when you go, I don't know if I would recommend the poppy reserve though - it was super lame last year! It did get a little more rain this year, so it's expected to be better...but with the drought in California it's probably a 50/50 chance that it will be amazing. If you go at the right time it really IS amazing though! Also, if you pass through Carpinteria, you absolutely HAVE to go to Clementine's Steak House (the other great restaurant there is Joe's Crab Shack, but trust me, it will be crowded) ! Clementines is kind of tucked away, my husband and I just stumbled accross it recently and both of our meals were to DIE FOR, followed by the most freaking amazing homemade pie ever. It's like traditional, homestyle, comfort food type stuff and I'm thinking we need to go back soon even though I'm like an hour away! It was a little pricey but so so worth it. Anyways, congrats to both of you - I'm sure you're just as excited as he is about the graduation.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to hear you guys are planning to drive up the 5! I think Big Sur is just about the most beautiful place in the world, no joke. It's a little pricy, but you 100% need to stop at the Monteray Bay Aquarium in Monteray. It's renowned for being one of the best in the US, and it's a total treat every time I go. Otters, jelly fish, sharks, kelp forests, touch pools. It should not be missed!

I lived in Newport Beach, CA for a year. From the marina there, you can schedule a day trip to Catalina Island. I recommend it. Something fun to throw in the midst of a road trip - boat trip!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have some exciting times coming up! Way to go not spending extra money for a month and a half. That takes lots of discipline! Have fun picking out a new dress. :)

ReplyDeleteGirl! How do you manage to travel so much with a husband in medical school (not for long!) and everything else going on in your life!? And I know I'm not following the directions here but I'm going to go out on a limb and write it anyway...I've never guest posted before, but it sounds super interesting (and like a lovely opportunity). What are you looking for in a guest and/or their post?
