Fall Foliage Cruise: Bar Harbor, Maine and Acadia National Park

Our second stop on our fall foliage cruise was Bar Harbor, Maine. Maine has always been high on my list to visit so I was excited that our itinerary included two cities. We got on an early tender and had some time to kill before our tour to Acadia National Park so we wandered around Bar Harbor. They have a cute Main Street close to the town pier (where the tenders dock) so we shopped and explored.
We booked our tour to Acadia National Park through Acadia National Park Tours, and it was a great way to see the park in a short amount of time. We visited a lookout for Cadillac Mountain, Thunder Hole, and Sieur De Monts Spring with a 20-minute stop at each place.
Our tour guide was informative, with plenty of interesting anecdotes about Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. I loved the drive over to Acadia National Park, but the park itself was absolutely beautiful, especially with the gorgeous fall colors. Chris and I took advantage of our time there, climbing to the highest peaks to get the best views and crawling all over rocks to get as close to the ocean as we could without falling.
After our tour, we explored Bar Harbor some more, stopping by a restaurant for another lobster roll (which wasn’t nearly as good as the one we had in Kennepunkport). After spending time in both Portland and Bar Harbor, Chris and I couldn’t stop talking about how much we enjoyed Maine. We definitely want to go back and devote a week to exploring the state, especially in the summer or fall.

  2. Wow, I can't get over how beautiful the colors are! My grandfather is from upper New York state, and he says the colors get gorgeous there in the fall as well. I'm definitely adding a fall north-east trip to my bucketlist now :)

  16. The foliage is one of the reasons that people enjoy coming to Maine in the fall, ant it's easy to see why! Summertime is a favorite time for me to make it up there- I'm from a town about 2 hours away from Bar Harbor (Downeast). If you go in the spring/summer, look in to renting a cabin on one of the lakes- they'll run you about as much as a hotel will, but you have your own kitchen, multiple bedrooms, living room, etc. AND it's warm enough to swim in the lake, which our dogs (and us) love!

  17. I went here!

We didn't do the tour but just went around the park ourselves. We did a really crazy hike that involved lots of ladders. It was long but super fun and the view was spectacular.

I wasn't that impressed with lobster rolls. Maybe I should have tried more but I did love their blueberry ice cream! Did you get to try that?

I definitely want to go back to Acadia sometime!

  19. The Siberian Husky is a wonderful, strong work canine reproduced as a sled puppy. They for the most part live and work in the northern atmospheres. Since the 1920s more Siberian Huskies have been reared as pets and show dogs. The Chukchi, an antiquated people who live in Siberia, reproduced the Siberian Husky for a great many years as a sled puppy to help them move around the tundra. http://www.mordocrosswords.com/2016/09/national-park-near-bar-harbor.html
